HIDDEN LEAKS!
How to find and stop hidden leaks in our home?
- Seek advice from your collector. When the collector passes by to measure water use, ask him for advice. As a professional, he can advise you on unusually high consumption. If nothing justifies the increased water consumption, it means there is a leak somewhere.
- Listen up. A leak is not always visible, but distinctly audible in the most common case where there is a water leak.
- Do the "anti-leak" test. Track consumption: record the values on the water meter in the evening, and then in the morning. Compare them. If there is a change, there is a leak.
Studies show that dripping taps and burst toilets account for 5 % of water use in the home. Leaks are wasteful and costly. Every unused drop that runs down the drain is part of the water and sewer bill. If the water is hot, we will pay for more energy as well. Fortunately, most leaks are easily detectable. The point is to find the time to fix them.
